How Does CoolSculpting Fat Freezing Work?
By Brian Biesman MD
As featured in the post below, CoolSculpting is the leading technology worldwide in noninvasive body contouring. What does that really mean? CoolSculpting just got a nice shout out in pop culture this week when Kim Kardashian announced that she had a CoolSculpting treatment. This article’s headline announces that Ms. Kardashian had a CoolSculpting procedure to lose weight. It is important to distinguish between noninvasive body contouring and weight loss techniques.
Body contouring treatments do not necessarily produce significant changes in your weight. To be sure, after an extensive CoolSculpting treatment you may lose a little weight but that is not the treatment’s primary goal. CoolSculpting is designed to help reduce unwanted fat in areas such as the abdomen (belly), love handles, inner and outer thighs, back, and numerous other regions. Following successful CoolSculpting treatment, our patients typically report that they look better, that their clothes fit better and that they can frequently wear either smaller sized clothing or clothing they were not comfortable wearing previously. Recent advances in CoolSculpting allow it to treat fullness under your chin, bulges around the bra strap region, and “puffs” in the area where your arm meets your body. CoolSculpting is a fantastic, safe and effective way to help your body look and feel better but, to set some popular news stories straight, it is not a weight loss procedure.
