Dr. Brian Biesman is the Director of the Nashville Center for Laser and Facial Surgery where he specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery.   In addition, Dr. Biesman serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN where he holds appointments in the divisions of Ophthalmology, Dermatology, and Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.  He also is a Clinical Associate Professor at The University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, TN.

Dr. Biesman received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Michigan where he graduated with high honors. He completed his Ophthalmology residency at the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary before fellowship training in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York, NY. Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Biesman returned to Chicago where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. Biesman then moved to Boston where he assumed the Directorship of the Eye Plastics and Orbit Service and the Center for Aesthetic Eyelid and Facial Surgery at the New England Medical Center, and was an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine.  Over the next four years he earned faculty appointments in the Division of Otolaryngology at the New England Medical Center and the Divisions of Dermatology and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Beth Israel-Deaconess Medical Center in Boston.

Dr. Biesman is a member of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS) of which he is the Laser Safety Officer and past President. Dr. Biesman has received several national awards from his peers.  These include the 2012 Henry Baylis Lectureship Award, presented by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive for contributions to the field of aesthetic oculofacial surgery, 2012 Ellet Drake Memorial Award, an award presented annually by the ASLMS to a physician who has demonstrated longitudinal excellence over the course of their career in the use of lasers for patient care, in laser research, and in teaching other physicians best practices in laser medicine, and the 2010 Leon Goldman Award, an award presented annually by the ASLMS to a physician who has demonstrated longitudinal excellence over the course of their career in the use of lasers for patient care, in laser research, and in teaching other physicians best practices in laser medicine.  Dr. Biesman is also a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the Tennessee Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Medical Association.  He is an Honorary Member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery.  He sits on numerous corporate advisory boards and holds positions on the editorial boards of Lasers in Surgery and Medicine, Cosmetic Dermatology, and other industry publications.  Dr. Biesman also maintains leadership roles in many local civic organizations.

Dr. Biesman’s current research interests include technology-based cutaneous rejuvenation, novel approaches to noninvasive tissue tightening, transcutaneous and minimally invasive lipolysis, soft tissue volume augmentation for facial rejuvenation, transcutaneous delivery of botulinum toxin, technology-based modification of facial muscles, laser-enhanced drug delivery, home-use lasers and light devices, advances in ablative fractional skin resurfacing, cutaneous repigmentation, and low level light therapy for photorejuvenation.
My Team

Cara Costner, R.N., F.N.P. Cara, a native of Texas, graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2003 and Texas Tech Health Science Center in 2006. After graduating nursing school, she moved to Nashville and worked as an RN at Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital in the neonatal intensive care unit for the past 5 years. Cara completed her Master’s degree at Vanderbilt University in 2011 and is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Cara joined our practice in December 2012 and works closely with Dr. Biesman during patient consultations and managing pre- and post- operative care.   

Tammy Holton, R.N., B.S.N. Tammy is from Louisville, Kentucky. She graduated cum laude from Barton College in North Carolina with a bachelor’s degree in Nursing. She has been practicing nursing for over twenty years. Tammy began her nursing career working with cardiac patients including heart transplants and the artificial heart program in Louisville. She then worked for Glaxo Smith-Cline Pharmaceutical Co. in North Carolina as a corporate nurse. In 2005, she began working with lasers and cosmeceuticals. With a desire to expand her knowledge and gain experience by working with Dr. Biesman, Tammy joined the Nashville Centre for Laser and Facial Surgery in March of 2010. Combining the highest quality skincare products with the latest technology in lasers, she works closely with patients to provide each individual with a plan of care to achieve optimal results for their concerns.  

Molly Katz, R.N. Molly, a native of Colorado, graduated from nursing school in Western Kentucky in 2007. After graduating, she moved to Nashville to start her nursing career at Vanderbilt Childrens Hospital in pediatric cardiology. She continued her nursing career working as an RN in the critical care unit at Centennial Medical Center. In March 2011, Molly joined our practice and has since been working closely with Dr. Biesman, assisting with patient consultations, pre- and post- operative care, and office procedures.
